Welcome to Virginia

The first noteworthy site is the Virginia Farm Market a few miles before Winchester. If you have time, stop! You won't regret it!

The first of 3 Sheetz in the Winchester area. Stop for another Beer!

You will notice that everything around Winchester has to do with Apples.

I think this is due to this factory. White House Foods Apple plant.

Anyway, when you see this plant on your right, make the left. It looks like your going into another plant, but your not.

Then make the VERY NEXT RIGHT onto North Braddock Street.
It looks like your turning into a residential neighborhood, but it is 522.

If you really have time, check out Old Town Winchester. Old style shops and restaurants. Follow these signs if you want to check it out.

After you continue thru town, MAKE A LEFT when you see this diner, onto W Gerrard Street.

You will then see a McDonald's on the right. If the Beer and the Farm Market haven't filled you up, stop and check it out. It's got a cool "Rock N' Roll" Theme.
Shortly after you pass the McDonald's you will pass a Chinese restaurant on the left. If you look close you will see the MOPED they use for delivery!
Continue straight to another light. You will see a Sheetz directly in front of you.

STAY STRAIGHT at the Sheetz and continue to the next light at the Apple Blossom Mall.

Mess of Signs and the Apple Blossom Mall Sign you will see at this light.
MAKE A LEFT here at this intersection to follow 522 south.

At the top of the hill, you are going to follow 17 south. (Just keep going straight thru the intersection)

About 15 miles out of Winchester, you will go down a big hill. At the bottom you will make a right onto WINCHESTER ROAD
to follow 17 south.
After you make this right, watch out for deer and cops!

You will follow this stretch of country road for a few miles.
After the train tracks, go up the hill and STAY STREIGHT AHEAD to merge with I-66 east.

If you stay on I-66, it takes you into the Washington D.C. area. We don't want to do that.
We take an exit only a few miles after you get on I-66 and keep following 17 south.

As you approach Warrenton. take the RIGHT lane to choose the BYPASS, Watch your speed on this bypass!

As you exit the Warrenton area, your next interchnage is at OPAL. You will see a SHEETZ on your left. In years past, you made a left there. THIS HAS CHANGED!!!
Now, STAY IN THE RIGHT LANE, GO PAST SHEETZ, AND TAKE THE EXIT ON THE RIGHT TO REMAIN ON 17 SOUTH!
Now just continue for about 50 miles to I-95 South.

This gigantic roller skate always stuck out to me.

As you approach Fredricksburg, one of the first things you will see (on the right) is the Corporate Headquarters of Geico Insurance.

This is where you get on to I-95 South at Fredricksburg

When you get closer to Richmond, you will probably see parts of Kings Dominion.

Shortly after Kings Dominion, you will BARE LEFT onto I-295 South, which circles, to the left of Richmond.

At the eastern most point of I-295, you exit onto I-64-EAST and head toward the Hampton Roads area.

Let's continue through Hampton Roads

Sights on the way down
(Altoona, PA to Nags Head, NC)
